2019 Heddleson Junior Faculty Grant will fund development of book club materials to close gaps experienced by immigrant families and children

Ji Yeong I and Constance Beecher, assistant professors of education, and Eugenia Hartsook, executive director for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Story County, have received a $3600 Heddleson Junior Faculty Grant for a project that aims to organize a parent book club for immigrant families. Curriculum and a reading guide book will be developed to increase family conversations about diversity, immigration, and bilingualism.
