Backpack STEM kits to be available in northwest Iowa public libraries: New backpack STEM kits put together by School of Education assistant professor Connie Beecher and postdoctoral research associate Sara Nelson will soon be available in northwest Iowa public libraries. They contain hands-on activities aimed at teaching young children more about science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and literacy. Beginning in June, 24 of these backpack STEM kits containing cool items such as Bee-Bots, robot mice, Slinkies, and microscopes will be available for families to check out at public libraries in Hull, Sanborn, George, Sibley, Milford, Everly. Students produced similar kits this spring for the Ames Public Library.
