Erin Doran, an assistant professor in the School of Education, received a $10,000 grant from the Conference on College Composition and Communication, to study Latinx community college students who are placed for their first semester in developmental English courses. Doran intends for the research to help stakeholders better understand the experiences of Latinx students on their campuses and discern more fitting supports for them inside and out of the classroom. She aims to identify specific, usable recommendations for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to ensure broader contributions to the success of Latinx students. The funding organization CCCC is a postsecondary division of the National Council of Teachers of English.
