Noreen Naseem Rodríguez honored by NCTE for early career scholarship in field of children’s literature

Noreen Naseem Rodríguez, an assistant professor in the School of Education at Iowa State, has received the 2019 Early Career Award from the Children’s Literature Assembly of the National Council of Teachers of English. Rodríguez is a social studies education expert who develops innovative ways to use children’s books to teach the difficult histories of people of color in the United States. The NCTE award demonstrates the strength of her research, publications, teaching, and service in the field of children’s literature. She will be honored at a breakfast event on Nov. 24 as part of the NCTE conference in Baltimore, Maryland.
