Help students during prep week by donating to STORIES

04/14/2022

The STORIES program is a support group for students who have experienced foster care and/or homelessness. These students are particularly vulnerable as finals approach. Many students in the STORIES program don’t have traditional family support. Seeing other students receive care packages during prep week can be demoralizing at a time when students need to be uplifted and supported. That’s where you can help!

The STORIES advisory team is accepting donations to put in 15 gift boxes (8″ long x 8″ wide x 4″ high).

Ideas for donations include:

  • Gift cards:
    • Can be purchased at any ISU dining location or by contacting Giftcards@iastate.edu. They can be used at all ISU Dining locations across campus, including cafés.
    • Other nearby businesses such as Subway, Jimmy John’s, Starbucks or KUM N Go
  • Pre-packaged, non-perishable healthy snacks to invigorate energy
  • Other accessories students love such as: lip balm, hand sanitizer, post its, highlighters, fidget toys

All donations can be delivered to 131 MacKay Hall during business hours no later than April 27. Boxes will then be assembled and delivered to students at the beginning of prep week.
